Research Description:

I work in ecology and evolutionary biology, using diverse model taxa to understand the historical and ecological processes that have shaped present-day diversity patterns. To achieve this, I apply various statistical methods – including Bayesian approaches, machine learning, null models, and spatial statistics – to analyze large ecological databases. This approach facilitates the study of broad-scale ecological patterns in species richness. Additionally, I research biological invasions, focusing on the ecological impacts of invasive and naturalized species on native biodiversity. Currently, I am particularly interested in studying the evolutionary relationships of pelagic and benthic polychaetes (Annelida) from the Pacific coast of South America using molecular methods such as DNA barcoding and phylogenomics.
